We interrupt this program for a bitch fest

I have a bone to pick. I primarily want to jab it into a few select ladies eyes. Its time to rehash that vintage vs repro vs inspired argument.

There is a debate going on in a vintage clothing group I belong to about how things are tagged and described. Mostly the over use of the term "Atomic", and using terms like Mad Men and Retro to get traffic to a sales listing.

WHO CARES?

First off, who made you the authority on what is or isn't something?
Secondly, if you don't like a listing, don't buy it.
Thirdly, if you only want to wear true vintage all the time, that's fine. Nobody is pissing in your cornflakes over it. How dare you look down your nose at someone that doesn't?

I really hate these snotty snobby bitches that think polka dots and cherries are played out, and you're not doing it right if you don't wear vintage.

I don't swear often on this blog, but let me take a moment to give a grandiose FUCK YOU to you people.

The point of being in the Rockabilly community is that we share a common interest. Rockabilly. THAT is the glue that binds us, not the clothes we wear or the size of our bodies. I appreciate the girl in the head to toe vintage with her game on point as much as I appreciate the girl in the denim Capri pants and top from forever 21. Each person brings their own unique beauty to the table. If you cant appreciate that, I don't want you anywhere near my circle of friends.

  1. I totally hear you! It's ridiculous how much more compliment the girl wearing a vintage outfit gets versus a girl who makes her whole damn outfit. It takes far more talent and ingenuity to make a garment of clothing from scratch. This was one of the reasons I left the Lolita community. Bitches and whores. Whores because a lot of these "girls" would sell their used panties (shit you not) to the creepy, pervo men on adult sites. Yeah. I don't care how much you want something, selling yourself is never a good idea.

    1. Amen girl! I dont judge anyone doing something they enjoy, just dont judge me back. Sure true vintage is unique, and beautiful, and a piece of history, but unless someone is hoarding all the vintage in fat girl sizes, its out of my reach in both size and financial viability. Until I can fit it and afford it, I have to do what I can. I hope my friends are liking me for me, and not what clothes I have on

    2. I agree. It seems like a lot of the more popular vintage gals just hang around girls like them a la Mean Girls. I doubt I'll ever be willing to spend $200+ on a dress when I can make 3 or 4 dress for the same amount of money.

I will admit I love to collect accessories: shoes, earrings, bangle, necklaces, purses, etc. I feel that an outfit is only as good as the accessories. Which is probably why I always need more shoes and jewelry.

    3. I totally have to thank (blame?) you for getting me hooked on amerimark for shoes. I've been trying to find a pair of brown leather sandals for some mexican/western novelty skirts I want to make and so far thats the best place. I bought a pair of white mary janes from them that are just perfect

    4. You're welcome. I've been wanting a pair of cute huaraches (Mexican leather sandals) for a while but haven't found any. Amerimark is pretty cool with the styles and decent pricing. I actually need to go through my shoes and see which I haven't worn in over 18 months.

    5. I have weird flipper feet, very boxy across the toes, so when I find a pair of shoes that are cute and fit well, I see if I can get them in at least black and white. Oddly I dont have any brown Huaraches which is what I'm ultimately looking for. I'm liking the looks of these http://www.amerimark.com/cgi-bin/amerimark/postkey_find.html?keywords=160412 because I can wear them with skirts or with capris and my embroidered blouses
